The Premier High School of Austin campus was opened in the fall of 2001 and we have continued to grow and expand. At PHS of Austin we set high academic, attendance, and behavioral expectations for our students. We require all our students to take part in all components of the PHS methodology including participation in all TAKS-preparation classes, daily writing prompts, and group classroom activities so that students are better prepared to master all components of the TEKS, the foundation of the TAKS test.
The future of the Austin PHS campuses is to transition all students into post-secondary education, including but not limited to universities, colleges and trade schools. Part of the transition process will include dual enrollment college classes in high school. A majority of our juniors and seniors regularly participate in the Austin Community College Early College Start Program. Students participate in dual enrollment classes earning both high school and college credit concurrently. Students are eligible to earn up to 30 credits towards their college degree while in high school.
Premier High School of Austin now offers a fully accredited Night Program for students between the ages of 19-26. The Night Program is an academic program available to all students who wish to pursue a high school diploma in an individualized, self-directed instructional environment for recovered and potential drop-outs. Students have the ability to enroll in both 2 and 4 hour programs allowing them to earn credit and graduate from high school. Night Program students have access to all resources available to the Premier High School day program including access to math and science specialists, participation in special programs as eligibility is determined, and character and leadership opportunities. There are no minimum credit requirements and no expectations that students have mastered TAKS before enrolling in the Night Program. Contact your local Premier High School campus director or Night Program director today for more information.
PHS of Austin is currently accepting enrollment applications for the 2011-2012 school year. Our office hours run Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We are closed from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. daily for lunch. Please call to schedule a school visit.
